The Indian state of Mizoram is traced to the country’s Northeastern region; Aizawl is Mizoram’s capital city. The managing body of vocational education in the Mizoram state is the Directorate General of Training (DGT) that operates under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of the Union Government of India.

To promote skill training, the government-managed and privately-owned, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and Industrial Training Centers (ITCs), respectively, are set up across India. The technical training centers impart both theoretical knowledge and practical education for developing the pupils’ skills in the chosen trades.

Working in unison are the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) and State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT) that function at the national level and state level, respectively, for conducting technical training. The NCVT frames the policies of the trade courses while the SCVT is responsible for their implementation.

The aspiring candidates can apply for the NCVT or SCVT trades, as per their interests and preferences. Through the NCVT trades, the National Level Trade Certificates (NLTCs) are attained; and the SCVT trades lead to the State Level Trade Certificates (SLTCs). With the certifications, NLTCs and SLTCs, the candidates become eligible for the opportunities at the national and state level, respectively.
